Philosophy of Worship
What is worship? Often times worship is referred to as the musical portion of the church service but I believe that worship is much more than singing. Worship is a lifestyle that requires continuous sacrifice unto the Lord. This idea is clearly illustrated in Romans 12:1 KJV. “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” Though worship is not solely singing, music is a means in which we pour out our love from the daily life of worship that we live. The music sung and played during a service creates an atmosphere for the Lord to come. Psalm 22:3 KJV says “But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel”. He inhabits praise. Worship and praise music not only helps to create a throne for the Lord, but it also creates a place of vulnerability in each person’s heart. It allows people to be open and let God come in and work in their life.
Music is such an awesome avenue to bring God glory. It allows us to declare scripture in a powerful way. I believe the most impactful songs we can sing are those from scripture. Music serves as a way to declare the Father’s heart as we are sensitive to the Holy Spirit. Music expresses what words alone cannot. I have also found that while singing to the Lord there is an open channel for the Holy Spirit to flow and speak words from the Father’s heart to His people.
Though music alone cannot radically change a person’s life, I believe that when you allow God to work through your music, the impossible can happen. Lives will be changed, hearts will be mended and people will be healed as God’s anointing flows through you and your music. My desire is to always be a vessel in which God can flow through to impact His bride.
